چکیده
A hernia is defined as an area of weakness or complete disruption of the fibromuscular tissues of the body wall. Hernias are among the oldest known afflictions of humankind. The word “hernia” is derived from a Latin term meaning “a rupture”. The earliest reports of abdominal wall hernias date back to 1500 BC. During this early era, abdominal wall hernias were treated with trusses or bandage dressings. Despite the high incidence, the technical aspects of hernia repair continue to evolve.

Quality of Life of in Patients Submitted to Anterior Abdominal Wall Laparoscopic Hernioplasty
BACKGROUND The laparoscopic ventral hernia repair technique made possible surgeries with smaller skin incisions and smaller dissection of the soft tissue around the hernia, therefore with a better wound, a quicker postoperative recovery and a lower complication rate. AIM To evaluate the applicability of a quality of life survey based on the molds of the American Hernia Society, European Herni...

Background: Laparoscopic hernioplasty is a standard technique with increasing interest of patients and surgeons. Bilateral hernioplasty can be performed by laparoscopy as well. The aim of this study is to show laparoscopic bilateral hernioplasty is an acceptable method and use of eye-shaped mesh getting the best result. Methods: In 54 cases with bilateral inguinal hernia, under general anest...

BACKGROUND Ventral midline hernia formation following abdominal surgery in horses is an uncommon complication; however, it can have serious consequences leading to increased morbidity and mortality. Currently, mesh hernioplasty is the treatment of choice for large ventral midline hernias in horses to allow potential return to normal function. Complications following mesh hernioplasty using poly...
متن کاملLaparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal repair versus laparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay mesh repair for umbilical/para umbilical hernia- an institutional review
Background: Laparoscopy has gained popularity over open surgery in the treatment of umbilical and para-umbilical hernia repair over the last decade due to better defining and cover of the abdominal defect, shorter post-operative stay, less pain and lesser complications. The aim of our study was to compare the two procedures in terms of duration of surgery, cost outcome, complications, recovery t...
متن کاملLaparoscopic intraperitoneal onlay repair of abdominal incisional and ventral hernias with polyvinylidene fluoride-coated polypropylene mesh; A retrospective study with short to medium term results
Laparoscopic repair of incisional and ventral hernias has increased in popularity due to reduced pain, shorter length of stay and earlier return to work. Dynamesh Intraperitoneal onlay mesh (IPOM), a composite of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coated polypropylene (PP) was designed to utilize the properties of both materials. This retrospective study reports a single surgeon experience with la...
